Send and Inclusion

At Three Rivers Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every student is able to thrive within a broad, ambitious and inclusive curriculum, regardless of need. We believe that all young people should feel supported, valued and able to achieve their full potential.

Our Approach

Our Inclusion Team works closely with students, families and staff to ensure that individual needs are understood and met effectively. Our approach ensures that needs are:

  • Identified early through screening, assessment and monitoring
  • Carefully planned for via Ordinarily Available and Personalised Provision
  • Supported through targeted interventions
  • Regularly reviewed in partnership with families, children and staff

We support the whole child, including academic progress, social development, emotional wellbeing, sense of belonging and independence.

What We Provide

We offer a wide range of support, adapted to meet individual needs. This may include:

  • High-quality classroom teaching with appropriate adjustments
  • In-class support and small group interventions
  • Key adult support where appropriate
  • Literacy and numeracy programmes and interventions
  • Support with organisation, study skills and independence
  • Emotional wellbeing and regulation support
  • Homework and coursework support
  • Access to safe spaces, trusted adults and key workers

Support is personalised and should be flexible in approach so that it can change over time as students develop.

Working in Partnership

We place great importance on strong relationships with parents and carers. We aim to:

  • Communicate regularly and openly about progress and support
  • Involve families in planning and reviewing provision
  • Provide guidance on how to support learning at home
  • Offer opportunities to meet with the Inclusion Team

We work closely with a range of external and Local Authority professionals, including:

  • Educational Psychologists
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Occupational & Physio Therapists
  • Specialist Teachers for Inclusive Practice (STIPS)
  • Inclusion Welfare Teams
  • ASD Outreach and ADHD services
  • Physical, sensory and medical support services
  • Advisors in Hearing and Visual Impairment
  • Physical and Sensory Support Service (PSSS)
  • Surrey SEND teams and inclusion services

Inclusion and Progress

We aim for all students, including those with additional needs, to:

  • Access a full curriculum
  • Develop confidence and resilience
  • Build independence in their learning
  • Achieve outcomes in line with their potential as learners
  • Inspire them to achieve their own personal goals and aspirations

We foster a supportive environment where students are encouraged to celebrate their strengths, gain a secure understanding of their needs and take an active role in their learning journey

Transition and Additional Support

We work closely with primary schools to ensure a smooth and supportive transition into Year 7, particularly for students with additional needs.

For students who require more specialist support, we may work with families and the local authority to secure appropriate recognition of need and additional funding, where appropriate.
